Big Bend National Park preserves a large, diverse portion of the Texas Chihuahuan Desert. Mountains, desert, and the Rio Grande River combine to make this area an outstanding outdoor playground for hikers, campers, canoers, birders, and nature lovers.
The Big Bend National Park pattern features one of the most famous areas of the park – the Santa Elena Canyon. Designed with simplicity in mind, this pattern uses only a handful of basic embroidery stitches and is perfect for novice and expert embroiderers.

Arches National Park Hand Embroidery Pattern
I’ve visited Arches National Park twice. Both times I hiked the trail to the base of Delicate Arch and marveled at the surrounding scenery. While the arch itself is a wonder of nature (not to mention the most famous and recognizable of all the arches), what makes the scene so striking is the contrast of red rock against the distant forests and snow-capped peaks of the La Sal Mountains.
The Arches National Park pattern captures all of that and more with a classic scene featuring the Delicate Arch set against a backdrop of forest and mountains. Designed with simplicity in mind, this pattern is perfect for both novice and experts alike.

Capitol Reef National Park Hand Embroidery Pattern
It might be the least popular of Utah’s five National Parks, but those who have visited Capitol Reef know that it has much to offer! Aside from the mind-blowing 90-mile long ridge of sandstone called the Waterpocket Fold that juts out of the earth and has eroded over time to form a jungle of domes, cliffs, and twisting canyons, the park also boasts a fertile river valley full of lush green cottonwood trees and rows of fruit trees planted by settlers long ago.
The Capitol Reef National Park pattern captures all of this and more with a classic scene featuring one of the apple orchards and a historic barn set in front of a towering cliff. Designed with simplicity in mind, this pattern is perfect for both novice and expert embroiderers.

Grand Canyon National Park Embroidery Pattern
The grandest of all the national parks, the Grand Canyon is home to an immense gash in the earth filled with layered bands of red, gold & tan rock. While it’s nearly impossible to capture the scale of this massive geologic wonder in a 7-inch round embroidery pattern, the view from river level – or from the bottom up – makes a fair attempt at demonstrating the scale.
With all the layers, what looks at first glance to be a complicated pattern, actually only requires four different stitches and is a perfect project for novice and expert embroiderers alike.

- Full-color photo of the finished embroidery piece

Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park Hand Embroidery Pattern
Giant trees, soaring mountains, and deep canyons make this tandem set of national parks a must-visit destination. Within the boundaries of the parks lie Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower U.S states, Kings Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in North America, and several groves of giant sequoia trees whose massive girth marks them as some of the world’s largest living things.
I made my first visit to this park, last spring and was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the giant sequoias. As we hiked the winding paths between the towering trees, I captured a photo of my husband dwarfed nearly to the size of an ant while standing next to one of the giant sequoias. It is this photo, and its tribute to the massive scale of these trees, that inspired the Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park embroidery pattern.
This is a fairly simple pattern that only uses a handful of basic stitches. It is suitable for both experienced stitchers and those who are new to embroidery.
Included in the PDF Pattern:
- Full-color photo of the finished embroidery piece
- One pattern sized to fit a 7 or 8-inch hoop
